The coordinators of the Higher Education for Economic Transformation (HEET) project recently visited the Tanzania Institute of Accountancy (TIA) for a joint progress monitoring session. TIA is one of the beneficiaries of the HEET project, funded by the government through the World Bank.
Simba Oyombe, the Project Coordinator for TIA, reported that the institute is making substantial progress in implementing the project. Initiatives include capacity building for ICT officers, updating and creating six undergraduate and postgraduate curricula.
Oyombe also highlighted that the HEET project has provided opportunities for three female lecturers to pursue postgraduate degrees, leadership training for top institute officials, and capacity building for TIA project coordinators in contractual matters.
Regarding infrastructure, Oyombe mentioned that preliminary preparations have been completed for constructing hostels at the Singida and Mwanza campuses, with construction expected to commence in early 2024.
