The programmes’ purpose is to produce well-rounded and ethical graduates who are highly regarded for their proficiency with the fundamentals and techniques of their specific level of education (diploma, certificate, associate’s degree, etc.) and their in-depth understanding of the business world, while also preparing them to become leaders who foster social value.

Procurement and contract management
From the procurement perspective, the department organises study visits/practical lectures with the ministry of finance counterparts such as PPRA, PSPTB and GPSA to build procurement and contract capacity in Tanzania. Students participate in study discussion forums to identify potential challenges in public procurement systems and suggest solutions straight to PPRA. The department act as a centre for PSPTB professional examinations in its renowned campuses.
Clearing and forwarding
Trillion of shillings pass through import-export border points with the help of massive information, processes and procedures. The PLM department offers world-class training on clearing and forwarding goods into and out of the country. Through its class-practice blended syllabus, students are equipped with clearing and forwarding skills that anyone may wish to possess. The department is a centre of excellence in port formalities and following international chamber of commerce commercial terms (Incoterms® 2020). Study tours are organised, administered and delivered to students by experts from the field with vast experience and technical know-how.
Warehouse management
Push production businesses are dependent on the efficiency of warehouse activities. The efficiency of business enterprise is locked with the ability of the organisation to managed stock. How much to keep, where, and how to keep stock depends on the qualities of graduates’ in the procurement and logistics management cadre, among other things. As a crucial logistics infrastructure, a warehouse is understood as a place for everything but everything in its place. Its efficiency depends, among other things, on the knowledge and skills of technical personnel. Come to TIA for cutting edge training in warehouse and warehousing activities. Supply chain management has become a multifaceted profession that involves strong logistical and management skills as a result of technological revolution, the need for long-term competitive advantage, and globalisation. The procurement and logistics management programme is designed to provide you with the supply chain management skills you’ll need to seek exciting opportunities in today’s corporate world. Students will learn how to make informed decisions about sourcing, inventory, storage, demand, and transportation management and how to create a successful supply chain strategy. They will also gain the skills necessary to manage a company’s entry into international trade.

The department offers procurement and logistics management courses from Basic Technician Certificate in Procurement and Logistics Management (NTA 4), Technician Certificate in Procurement and Logistics Management (NTA 5), Diploma in Procurement and Logistics Management (NTA 6), a Higher Diploma in Procurement and logistics management (NTA 7) and bachelor degree (NTA 8) in procurement and logistics management. These programmes are available in our six campuses i.e., Dar es salaam campus, Mbeya campus, Singida campus, Mwanza campus, Kigoma campus and Mtwara campus. Additionally, the department is working on a Master degree course in the same specialisation.
Certificates and Diploma Course

Our certificate courses are designed with industry input and range from National Technical Award (NTA) level 4 and Level 5. So, whether you are looking for an entry-level 4 Certificate and five courses, or if you wish to upskill with Certificate to Diploma, you will be sure to find the level you are looking for, the “Basic Technician Certificate and Technician Certificate in Procurement and Logistics Management”. Plus, with seamless pathways between our courses, you can work towards higher level qualifications. These courses are strategically located on six campuses, i.e. Dar es salaam, Mbeya, Singida, Kigoma, Mwanza, and Mtwara, with a supportive learning environment.
Holders of NTA 4 and 5 qualifications are intended to handle the acquisition of minor value requirements, transport routing and scheduling, perform stores functions such as receiving, sorting, inspecting, locating, coding, issuing, and maintaining proper records of items store. These are crucial business requirements that, when correctly done, will have sound records of stocks, accounts and appropriate inputs for taxations. Basic Technician Certificate in Procurement and Logistics Management (NTA 4)
To meet the entry requirement for the Basic Technician Certificate in Procurement and Logistics Management (NTA 4), students must be a holder of holders of Ordinary Certificate of Secondary Education (CSEE)with minimum entry requirements of at least four (4) passes (grade “D” or above) excluding religious subjects; OR National Vocational Award LEVEL 3 (NVA 3) with Ordinary Certificate of Secondary Education (CSEE).

The programme covers two semesters of full-time academic study (120 credits) with core and fundamental modules. The credit weight of each module will be accessible when a student registers for this course. The language of instruction is English, and all modules included in the course are taught in English.
Core modules are programme-specific and include an emphasis on elements of business law. All students are supposed to study them successfully.
The programme offers a unique combination of widening and deepening knowledge and skills in
procurement and logistics management and the possibility of practising at a routine level. The scheme of study for core modules are basic storekeeping, basic procurement principles, elements of freight forwarding and elements of logistics operations.
The fundamental modules provide a range of basic skills, knowledge and principles appropriate to the course, emphasising English for basic business communication and computer applications. Other modules include elements of marketing, basic bookkeeping, and elementary business mathematics.
Technician Certificate in Procurement and Logistics Management (NTA 5)
To meet the entry requirement for technicians’ certificate in procurement and logistics management (NTA 5), applicants can be holders of Basic Technician Certificate in Procurement and Logistics Management (NTA 4) or related programmes accompanied with at least four passes at Ordinary Certificate of Secondary Education (CSEE) excluding religious subjects. OR
Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education (ACSEE) with at least one principal pass and one subsidiary in relevant subjects, excluding religious subjects. OR
Basic Procurement and Supplies Certificate (BPSC) awarded by PSPTB accompanied with at least four passes at Ordinary Certificate of Secondary Education (CSEE) excluding religious subjects.
The programme covers two semesters of full-time academic study (125 credits) with core and fundamental modules. The credit weight of each module will be accessible when a student registers for this course. The language of instruction is English, and all modules included in the course are taught in English.
Core modules are programme-specific and include an emphasis on the fundamentals of information systems skills. All students are supposed to study all modules successfully.
The programme offers a unique combination of widening and deepening knowledge and skills in procurement and logistics management and the possibility of practising at a routine level. The scheme of study for core modules are procurement principles, stores administration, inventory control, E-procurement Principles, transport and distribution.
The fundamental modules provide a range of skills, knowledge and principles appropriate to the course, emphasising English for business communication and office practice. Other modules include business mathematics and statistics, principles of marketing and principles of financial accounting. In addition, this course consists of a formal and assessed two-months practical field attachment that corroborates with the CBET mode of study.

Diploma in Procurement and Logistics Management (NTA 6)
Holders of NTA 6 or diploma-level qualifications are designed for a person who will perform procurement and logistics duties, including procurement planning, clearing and forwarding, contract administration, warehouse administration, assisting in procurement negotiations, evaluating tender documents, and organising supplies. A class-practice session is devised and delivered to equips learners with the practical aspect of the learning process. The procurement and logistics management department has grown good working relationships with private and public institutions through collaborative initiatives, enhancing a good mix between class and practice.
The programme covers two semesters of full-time academic study (128 credits) with core and fundamental modules. The credit weight of each module will be accessible when a student registers for this course. The language of instruction is English, and all modules included in the course are taught in English.
Core modules are programme-specific and include an emphasis on legal aspects of procurements. All students are supposed to study them successfully.
The programme offers a unique combination of widening and deepening knowledge and skills in procurement and logistics management in a broad range of work activities, most of which are non-routine. The scheme of study for core modules are public procurement, freight forwarding, procurement contract management, fundamentals of logistics management and international procurement
The fundamental modules provide a range of skills, knowledge and principles appropriate to the course, emphasising entrepreneurship. Other modules include principles of management, economics and costing. Additionally, students are required to submit a practical field report following TIA field report guidelines.
NTA Level 6 is open for holders of the Technicians Certificate in Procurement and Logistics Management (TCPLM) NTA Level 5 qualification only.

Bachelor degree programme in procurement and logistics management
The bachelor degree in procurement and logistics is a two-level National Technical Awards qualification. The NTA 7, a seventeen-week four-semester course studied in two academic years, and the two-semester NTA 8 studied in one academic year.  You have all reasons why you should study for your bachelor in procurement and logistics management at Tanzania Institute of Accountancy. This programme is offered in four of our six campuses strategically located in our country. Additionally, the programmes adore class-practice blend curriculum with the vast but necessary knowledge and skills that allow bachelor holders to apply knowledge, skills, and understanding in a broad range of complex technical activities, a high degree of personal responsibility, and some responsibility for work of others. Graduates can perform a broad range of complex technical procurement and logistics activities, manage physical and financial resources, and conduct research.
The programme covers three years of full-time academic study (376 credits) with core and fundamental modules. The credit weight of each module will be accessible when a student registers for this course. The language of instruction is English, and all modules included in the course are taught in English.
Core modules are programme-specific and emphasise supply chain management and public and private sector procurement. All students are supposed to study them successfully.
The programme offers a unique combination of widening and deepening knowledge and skills in procurement and logistics management in a broad range of work activities, most of which are non-routine. The scheme of study for core modules for NTA level 7 are procurement principles and practices, transportation and distribution management, stores operations, logistics management, warehouse management, freight forwarding and inventory management. Specific skills for NTA level 8 are international procurement, procurement & supplies audit, procurement negotiation skills, supply chain risks management, production & operations management, project and contract management, e-procurement & e-logistics and strategic procurement.
The fundamental modules provide a range of skills, knowledge and principles appropriate to the course, emphasising marketing and entrepreneurship. Other modules at NTA level 7 include business mathematics and statistics, financial accounting, development studies, communication skills, principles of economics, marketing management, business information systems, cost and management accounting, financial management, research methodology, quantitative methods and business consultancy. Additionally, this course includes a formal and assessed two-months practical field attachment that corroborate with CBET mode of study. Students are required to submit a practical research report following TIA research report writing guidelines.
Entry qualification
NTA Level 7 is open for form VI with at least two (2) principal passes with a total of 4.0 points from two subjects or holders of NTA Level 6 (Ordinary Diploma in Procurement and Logistics or another related discipline) a GPA of 3.0. Also, holder of the PSPTB Foundation Course for procurement and supply with at least four (4) passes in O-Level (CSEE) are eligible.
NTA Level 8 is open for Higher Diploma in Procurement and Logistics Management (NTA 7) only.
