Chief Executive Officer Appointment

Dr. Joseph Mabula Kihanda is the new Chief Executive Officer (Rector) of Tanzania Institute of Accountancy (TIA) which is an Executive Agency under the Ministry of Finance. The Institute was established on 01st July 2002 by the Government Notice No. 489 of 01st November 2002 and officially launched on 24th January 2003 as per Act No.30 of 1997 to take over the operations of the then Dar es Salaam School of Accountancy (DSA). 

TIA was mandated to provide quality education, research and consultancy in the areas of Accountancy, Procurement & Logistic Management, Information Technology, and other business related disciplines. 

Prior to his appointment as CEO in January 2014, Dr. Joseph was the Dean of the Faculty of Insurance and Social Protection at the Institute of Finance Management (IFM) responsible for academic activities for Insurance, Social Protection and Actuarial Studies programmes. 

He has been holding different positions at IFM and outside IFM and currently is the member of the National Insurance Board which governs Tanzania Insurance Regulatory Authority (TIRA). 

Dr. Joseph is not only an expert in administration but also in training, research and consultancy.He has publicized different journals and papers in the areas of Banking, Finance and Insurance.  He holds a PhD (Doctor of Business Administration Degree) from University of Strathclyde – Glasgow Scotland, United Kingdom. 

Last year (2013), during May Day, Dr. Joseph emerged the national overall best worker of the year for RAAWU.
